2023 Seoul Jongno things to do by the Locals

Hi! I’m Korean G.O.A.T ! Mm-hmm~

Today, I’m going to introduce things to enjoy in Jongno-gu, Seoul, recommended by Korean locals who have lived in Korea for more than 30 years!

I will introduce you to places where you can have unique experiences that fit the Korean trend these days rather than places you have encountered when you search for foreigners.

I selected places close to places where you can go sightseeing.

1. Hiker Ground

Address : 40, Cheonggyecheon-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea

Business hours: 10:00 to 19:00 daily (closed every Monday)

Hikerground is a complex cultural space recently created in Jongno and means Hi from KoRea. It consists of various themes on each floor, and sections related to K-POP and Netflix are popular.

You can take pictures here like a K-pop music video, and check information on Netflix dramas and movies that have been popular around the world.

There is also an interactive exhibition experience center, and there is a space and a cafe on the top floor where you can rest for a while, so if you want to visit Jongno, please stop by.

There is also Cheonggyecheon Street nearby, so it is very good to take a walk.

2. Ikseon-dong Hanok Street

Address : 17-4, Jahamun-ro 2-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea

Business hours: vary by store

Hanok Street in Ikseon-dong, Jongno is still a popular place for both the younger generation and foreigners in Korea. There are various restaurants, so it’s good to take a peek at the Korean food trend, and there are so many things to shop for, such as clothes and goods that it takes half a day to look around here.

The beginning of this Hanok Street was very small at first, but it gradually expanded and completed its current location.

There are many things to enjoy because it is a place where traditional Korean architecture, hanok, and young sensibility meet.

It’s an alley, so it might seem a little narrow when you move, but even that’s the charm of this street, so it’ll be fun to experience it!

It will be easy to find as it is located right in front of Exit 6 of Jongno 3-ga Station on Line 5!

3. Ssam-ji-gil

Address : 44, Insadong-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea

Business hours: 10:30 to 20:30 every day

Ssamji-gil is located on Insa-dong Culture Street. Because of the unique structure of the building with a hole in the middle, the pictures come out well, so many people visit.

There are various things to enjoy and eat inside the building, and it is a place where many people visit because it is so good to shop.

You can experience various things such as making crafts, making mood lights, and making candles, so if you visit Insadong Street, you will lose track of time.

There are many delicious restaurants nearby, so I recommend you to visit after eating! The way to get there is very close if you go to Exit 6 of Anguk Station on Subway Line 3.

And there is Starbucks in Korean on Insadong Culture Street, so it would be good to leave a proof shot that you traveled to Korea.

4. Ground Seesaw

Address : 18-8, Jahamun-ro 6-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea

Business hours: 10:00 to 19:00 every day (closed on the first Monday of each month)

This is a complex cultural space frequented by the younger generation of Korea these days.

In Korea, there are more spaces where you can even experience exhibitions and culture.

Think of it as a place similar to the Hiker Ground I mentioned above. Ground Seesaw also has a different exhibition every time, so I recommend you to look up the information on the website before you visit.

The location is also right next to Gwanghwamun and Gyeongbokgung Palace, so it would be great if you could tour in conjunction.

I will leave a link to the English homepage of the ground seesaw village below!

You know that K-pop is popular all over the world these days, and Korean movies and dramas are also popular on Netflix. This is because it is rapidly emerging as a country of Korean culture.

So I would like to introduce Sejong Center for the Performing Arts. This is a place where you can see various Korean performances and exhibitions, and it is located in Gwanghwamun Square.

When foreigners like you travel to Korea, do you visit Gwanghwamun, Insa-dong, Myeong-dong, and other common places? I think it would be good for you to experience the performance culture of Korea.

It’s so easy to find because it’s right in front of Gwanghwamun Station, and I’ll leave a link to the site in English below, so if it fits your itinerary, I recommend you to watch a performance or exhibition!
