2023 Seoul Best Restaurants TOP 5 by the locals

Hi! I’m Korean G.O.A.T ! Mm-hmm~

Today, I would like to introduce the top 5 restaurants in Seoul that I recommend, which have lived in Korea for more than 30 years!

The places I introduce are actually selected based on the restaurants that Koreans go to a lot, and the taste is guaranteed!

Please refer to the contents below for the criteria!

1. Evaluation criteria

1) Won’t be too expensive (less than $100 per person)

2) a place where you can’t eat due to over-waiting

3) Make it as accessible by public transportation as possible

4) the condition of being linked to tourist attractions

2. Top 5 Seoul Best Restaurants

1) Kuk Bin Gwan

Address
  • 17-4, Jahamun-ro 2-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea
Recommended menu
  • Yang Nyeom So Galbi (seasoned ribs)
Opening hours
  • 11:30 to 21:30 daily (15:00 to 16:30 break time)

This is a Han Woo restaurant that is very close to Gyeongbokgung Palace! I’m sure you enjoy eating beef in your country, but I enjoy eating Han Woo in Korea! Han Woo means beef grown in Korea.

The restaurant is in the form of hanok, a traditional Korean architectural style, and it makes up the space really neatly.

The menu is really diverse, but I personally recommend Yang Nyeom So Galbi! It’s 35,000 won per person, so I don’t think it’s too much of a burden, and most of all, the moment you put the meat in your mouth, you’ll experience it disappearing like a marshmallow!

It is also very accessible because it is very close to the subway station!

If you go to see Gyeongbokgung Palace, make sure to visit it! And the link below is related to the recommendation of restaurants around Gyeongbokgung Palace, so if you need it, read it!

Representative menu
  • Kal Mandu
Business hours
  • 11:30 to 21:00 (15:30 to 17:00 break time)

Have you tried Korean dumplings? This is a place where you can taste Korean dumplings. It is a famous restaurant that was introduced on the broadcast, and the price is very reasonable, and you can enjoy the Korean taste.

The recommended menu is Kal Mandu, which is a unique menu with noodles and dumplings. It’s 10,000 won per serving (about $8) and in addition to Kal Mandu, Koreans recommend Bibim Kuksu (Noodle) a lot!

The location is near Insa-dong, so it would be good to visit when you go to Insa-dong!

3) Mugyo-dong Buk-A kuk zip

Address
  • 38, Eulji-ro 1-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea
Representative menu
  • Buka Kuk (dried pollack soup)
Business hours
  • 07:00–20:00 weekdays / 07:00–15:00 weekends

This is a very old store that has been open since 1968. This is a place that sells Buk A Kuk. Koreans eat dried pollack soup when they drink and relieve hangovers. It’s such a delicious restaurant that some people purposely drink the day before to eat this dried pollack soup.

The price is 9,500 won (about $7), which is very cheap, and it is a restaurant where you can get a good taste of Korea.

There’s only one menu, so there’s no need to think about the menu!

Since the location is close to Euljiro ipgu station, I think it would be good to walk slowly and eat after looking around Myeongdong!

4) Baek Gom Makgeolli

Address
  • 39, Apgujeong-ro 48-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea
Representative menu
  • Kimchi pancake, boiled pork, makgeolli
Business hours
  • 17:30 to 23:30 daily (22:40 last order)

Do you know makgeolli, a traditional Korean liquor? You can think of it as a Korean wine, but this is a place where you can taste a lot of makgeolli.

I also go to this restaurant often, and the food is normal, but it’s fun to choose and eat because there are so many different kinds of makgeolli. And it is located on Apgujeong Rodeo Street, where young Koreans visit the most these days, so you can feel the youth of Korea.

If you are in your 20s and 30s, you can feel the perfect Korean night if you drink here and enjoy listening to music at a nearby lounge pub!

5) Sujung Okdol Sogum Gui (Stone Grilled)

Address
  • 146-1, Eoulmadang-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea
Representative menu
  • Sogum Gui (grilled salt)
Opening hours
  • 14:00 to 02:00 daily

This restaurant is one of the places I go often! The restaurant has been in operation for more than 15 years, and it is quite famous in Hongdae, Seoul.

What’s special about this place is that you grill meat on a stone. Most Korean restaurants grill meat on an iron plate, but this place grills meat on a special stone called jade stone.

You can taste the meat that is light and juicy as the oil drips through the meat gap.

Hongdae is such a great place to shop, so if you go to Hongdae, I hope you visit this restaurant!

The recommended menu is Sogum Gui! Samgyeob Sal is also delicious, so enjoy it in various ways!

Today, we learned about the best 5 restaurants in Seoul recommended by Korean locals!

I hope it’s a place that fits your travel route as much as possible, and I selected it as close to the subway station as possible and easy to visit, so I hope it helps!

Then I’ll come back with better writing next time! See you again!
